My Students

I have been able to start teaching my students how to code. They have been very successful at learning basics online, however I would like to also teach them how hardware can interact with their code. This can bring out some great creativity for my students.

We are a Title 1 school where a lot of students don't have access to a computer at home.

Sometimes the computers in my classroom are the only computers students are able to use. As I teach them how to code and use the MaKey MaKey, this is the first class where they have had this experience, which can lead to many minority students going into the STEM fields.

My Project

MaKey MaKey is a simple and fun way to get students into coding. These cards will allow creativity and discovery to come out of my students as they are able to try new ideas out with these cards. There are also many videos online that show different ideas that students can try out for themselves as well.

Not only will my students be able to learn about coding, but they will also be able to reinforce the math and science skills they have learned in their other classes.

They will also be able to learn and practice the skills of perseverance and hard work as they try different activities with the MaKey MaKey cards.
