The students who attend our school are excited about learning each day.

They come to us from many different types of homes. Some students are living with extended families, single parents, or a two parent homes. Most families struggle financially, and are not able to provide school supplies for their students. This makes it difficult to complete projects in the classroom without the help of the community.

My Project

I am requesting three iPads for my classroom so all of my students will be able to use an iPad each day. Having access to this current technology in the classroom will allow all of my students the opportunity to learn about money. Each student will be able to practice counting money, spending money and saving money on several different apps. Students will be given an income to work with each week. Out of their income they will have to pay for living expenses, entertainment, and save money for future needs. Many times, kids want to buy a new toy as soon as they see it on the shelf without any consideration of what they may need to buy. I want to help my students understand money, how to spend money appropriately and save money for the future. Some of my students are not having these types of conversations at home and therefore it is important to teach financial literacy at school.

Learning about finances at an early age will help my students learn to save and spend money appropriately.

Managing personal finances is a skill that everyone should know. Managing money successfully will help my students master money. I want to provide this opportunity for all of my students.
