My Students

The challenges my students face are the inability to keep the same pace as the other students in the class and have the same content delivered in a different environment while being held accountable to the same standards as the rest of the class.

I work with students in a elementary/middle title 1 school in an urban setting with Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).

They are males that are serviced during pull-out sessions as a small group. Their academic ability is measured below the majority of the class.

My Project

While we are requesting three tablets for alternative accessibility to grade level content, we are striving to keep the students abreast of technology in the classroom as it is introduced daily. We will be able to access audio books, a wider variety of language arts content, novels that are not available to us in hard back as well as experiencing navigation of a classroom technology that is limited to all students.

Access to tablets will expand their reading capabilities during pull-out sessions, allowing the boys to better interpret and articulate grade level content.

The small group of boys experience academic as well as emotional challenges being pulled out from the class. They are developing a comradely among themselves. This show of support assist in allowing their developmental skills to expand.
