My Students

Do you remember playing with K'Nex when you were young? K'Nex allow you to build and play with different machines to explore the world around you. K'Nex has built different science kits that help explore!

My students are in Alaska.

The school is one of the main meeting places in the community. The school has about 400 students. I get to teach some of them in grades 6-8. These students are wonderful students, but sometimes they lack the hands on experiences of students in larger schools.

My Project

Inquiry learning is wonderful! Students don't just complete "cookie cutter" labs, but rather do real science. The students will get to explore 11 different vehicles to compare spring driven motors, flywheel motors, battery and wind energy. They will be able to learn about potential energy and and how that stored energy can be transferred. The students will then be able to compare the efficiency of the different types of vehicles.

This donors choose project will allow my students another hands-on experiment that will allow them to better grasp the science concepts.

These cars will help the students take the vocabulary in our classroom and apply it to something they touched, talked about and thought about how to build.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
