Kindness Rocks Garden

Help me give my students the supplies to create a Kindness Rock Garden for a Community Service project.

My Project

The students in the Gifted program at our school are phenomenal! They love to read, create, complete STEM challenges, and help one another. They decided they needed a way to give back to their school, and they decided on a Rock Garden where students completing the 5th grade can leave behind something notable.

All 5th grade students will be able to paint a rock and choose a kind word or phrase to write on that rock.

These rocks will be placed in the school's garden and around the building in order to spread a little happiness and kindness to other students, teachers, staff, parents, and other visitors. These rocks add a much-needed splash of color and joy to the outside of the brick building. Teachers will also read the book "Only One You" to each class prior to painting their rocks. This book is a perfect motivational book as students leave elementary school and move on to middle school.

In later years, students will be able to visit the school, find their rock, and show their family and friends. It's a great way to bring in the community and spread kindness. In order to complete this project, each student needs a rock. We also need fresh paint colors and sharpies to decorate the rocks with the word or quote, color, and sketches. We are also requesting copies of "Only One You" to share among the teachers.
