Keeping Up With the Times!

My students need 30 subscriptions to TIME for Kids magazine in order to study current events and 30 daily planners to organize and keep up with their homework.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Don't you think students need to know what is going on in their world? Don't you think they need a place to organize their homework assignments?

These third grade students attend a public school in New York.

They are all high needs students, meaning they all come from low income families or foster families. These students fortunately receive free breakfast and lunch each day. Unfortunately, their families struggle to pay for everyday classroom supplies, such as daily planners. Despite their lack of money, these students are the sweetest, most caring group of children I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

My Project

A year's subscription of TIME for Kids weekly magazine will not only enrich students' understanding of current events, it will also enhance their comprehension skills. I will be able to differentiate my classroom instruction based on the articles within each issue. Thirty daily planners will give my students a place to organize their homework assignments and projects, maintain a class schedule, as well as any necessary contact information. The use of these planners will instill organizational skills within them and save a whole lot of loose leaf paper! We will be going green this year!

My school lacks funding-severely!

Teachers receive NO money for their classrooms and I am sure you are aware of the inadequate teachers' salary, especially within inner city schools! I have provided as much as I possibly can. Please help me to provide my students with materials that will enhance their educational experience and help to develop them into well-rounded and organized individuals. Thank you in advance for your consideration. It is appreciated more than you know.
