My Students
My name is Ben and I'm a teacher at an inner city school located in Chicago. I'm currently trying to start a golf team for students who have expressed an interest in forming a team.
We are an inner city high school where over 90% of our students receive a free or reduced price lunch.
Our school budget was cut 9% this year and we expect an additional 5-7% cut next year! It's a huge amount of money lost which leaves no budget for extra curricular activities. Our students need an activity and golf teaches great life lessons. Our team is very diverse and includes both boys and girls.
My Project
The students want to begin practicing this spring and summer to gain experience for fall season and need help. We are looking for any kind of help! We need full sets of clubs, team bags, gloves and a hitting net. The hitting net will help us practice when we are unable to get the driving range.
It is my belief that if we can jump starts this program by accessing equipment, which will stay with the team even after student graduate, we will change countless lives.
The kids are excited to learn the game and represent their school.
