My Students

I am a traveling resource teacher in an urban school servicing grades KG, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grade. I spend my time filling in the math and reading gaps of my students. I do this by using high engagement activities with the limited materials that are available to me.

My students come to me with a variety of experiences but all have one thing in common and that is that they are all performing academically lower than their peers.

Unfortunately, many of my students come to me with life experiences no person should have to deal with, let alone children who are so young. I am trying to provide an atmosphere of love and caring as well as a place to foster their love of learning so that they can develop the skills they need to be able to level the playing field of their peers.

My Project

The iPads with cases will be used in with all my students to provide more engaging activities for each student. Each grade level will be using it in a variety of ways. For example: My Kindergarten students will benefit from alphabet intervention applications and number identification applications. In 6th grade the kiddos will be using it for math facts, reading comprehension, and summerization. iPads provide versatility that allows me to more closely cater the needs of my students and the students to come.

Many of my students do not have access to this kind of technology.

iPads make learning more engaging which in turn makes my students want to participate. iPads allow me to flow seamlessly between individualized work and small group work. The applications engage students who normally disengage the most with schoo,l and the mobility that iPads provide allows me to service my students in both pull-out sessions and inclusive sessions.
