My Students

Lack of materials! Waiting! Bristles falling out! These are the challenges that face my students during art time. My students need art supplies to help them reach out to their inner artist.

My students in third grade love to explore, and learn through projects that are hands-on and creative.

Our school is a traditional elementary school in California, but we are not traditional in the way we learn. We love to become part of history through simulations, get our hands messy with science, and get constructive in math. Literature has us interviewing novel characters in a T.V. show and writing letters to authors. Learning takes on a whole new dimension for us, and we love it!

My Project

My students LOVE art time. They love learning about the different artists of our time, and the beautiful art they created. We look to the world around us for our inspiration. We find examples of artistic elements all around us, and create pieces following the principals of art. Children need to develop both their academic and artistic sides. What would the world be like with Monet, Picasso, or even Rembrandt? Through art instruction students will not only learn to appreciate art, but may even be inspired to be the next great artist of our time!

Arts education in school has been drastically cut and underfunded.

Research has shown that students who develop their creative side have a unique perspective in solving real-world problems. We need to encourage arts education in our classrooms and our students!
