How Would You do as An American Colonist?

My Students

Invite children to take a dive into history! My goal is to help my students understand and come to love history like I do. I like to make history come to life for them.

My students are very ambitious with imaginations that run wild.

We are in a very rural, high poverty area where budget cuts have taken away most of our supply money (like most other school divisions). My students love to read and would like more classroom sets for us to enjoy together. They often ask why I do not have more books and I explain to them, that I will do what I can to get more.

My Project

I would love to have more books for my students to read during class. I do teach history, but it is important that students find something they enjoy to read to bring their reading levels up as well. I like to make history come alive and this book will definitely benefit my students. As we read through our different time periods it is nice to be able to show students what the people looked like. Once they see something, they tend to remember it better. I hope to engage my students with this set of books and enjoy reading together as a class.

Your donations will allow me to bring more materials into my classroom then I would otherwise be able to.

Every manipulative that I have in my room benefits my students and enables them experiences I could not provide myself. These books will help me get my students imaginations going and help me show them what the colonial time period was truly like. I am grateful for all the amazing supporters of www.donorschoose.org.
