Homo Sapien Body Systems

My students need models the kidney, heart, hand and skeleton of the human anatomy.

My Students

My students always start and end the discussion of human body systems with the digestive system. It seems to be the system everyone remembers and likes to talk about it. However, they have a difficult time visualizing other body systems, such as the excretory system.

My school's student population reflects the abundant diversity of NYC public schools.

In particular, I have a significant population of English Language Learners (ELLs), former ELLs and one class full of students that are taking the Living Environment Regents.

My Project

Regardless of their current academic standing, all of my students need exposure to more manipulatives. We need models the kidney, heart, hand and skeleton of the human anatomy. With models that depict the human anatomy, my students will be able to touch and see for themselves what different parts of their bodies actually look like from within.

Donations to this project will allow my students to see human body models in real time and always have access to such manipulatives in the classroom.

They will learn and articulate their knowledge of the human body system with confidence (and probably some giggles too).
