This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning to count can be fun for children if they are counting objects that are exciting to them. My students are learning to count with one-to-one correspondence. They are more interested and excited when the objects are meaningful to them.

Our classroom is a pre-k class on a small elementary campus.

Our children come from a diverse community. They have many skills and many challenges academic as well as economic. Some have been identified as special needs but have awesome potential. Our program is a language based program that works on developing the whole child and preparing them for Kindergarten. The children are eager to learn and to be challenged. They learn strong academic and social skills through a variety of activities.

My Project

Math manipulatives are a necessity to every classroom. They enhance the learning of math skills from the very beginning. The objects that they count with can express their interests as well as our various themes such as animals and vehicles.. These small objects are useful in counting one by one, sorting by color or shape, classifying, and graph. They will be able to use the trays to know the objective of what they are doing with them during that session.

Our children need to enter Kindergarten with strong skills so that they can succeed.

The items that we are in need of will provide opportunities for growth and learning so that they will have a strong foundation for their elementary years. Our desire is to learn through meaningful experiences.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
