Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent, Victor Hugo said, and my students use music everyday to express themselves. These books will greatly help the band advance, as the students will have the necessary tools to learn how to play their instruments.

My students come from low income families.

A high percentage of students come from a poverty setting and are bused to our school. Our school is one of the most up-and-coming schools in the state in terms of test scores and academic achievement. It is rare to have such successful students in an urban setting. The success is because these students have a strong desire to further themselves and do great things with their lives.

My Project

These books will help my students form the building blocks for higher level music. The books will help the students start off with a great foundation for reading music. Currently, our books are over 10 years old, and have ripped and are outdated. These new books will be incredibly helpful, as this will be the first time that each student gets their own book.

These books will help the band achieve great things.

It is not everyday that these students get to experience such positive things in their lives. Band is one thing that reminds them about the good that they can do.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
