This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently work in a new building and the only thing missing to make my classroom complete is toner! I was assigned to teach ELA for the entire second grade at my school. Even though I love to teach reading it would be fabulous to have access to copies at a moments notice!

Our district is going through a severe deficit and all the teachers in my building are put on a copy allowance each month.

By the time the second week of the month comes my allowance is depleted! My personal vision is for all my students to be on reading grade level but how can I accomplish that if I don't have enough toner to make copies with!

My Project

The toner would not only be used for making copies of phonics pages, comprehension sheets, and dolce words for my word walls but also reproduce personalized sets of sight word books for each of my low performing students to take and reread them at home. It will give my students ownership of language and truly help with comprehension because the word books have descriptive pictures to go along with the text. For my high achievers, I have other reproducible materials that can push them to a higher level in reading. The parents of my children are also Non-English speakers and they come to my classroom to work alongside their children. The short stories and sight word books will benefit them as well. It would give parents an opportunity to bond with their children and establish literacy at home.

Your special donation will inspire my students to push themselves in reading and create a learning environment that would develop into a second language for my English Language Learners and their parents in my classroom!
