This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are lucky to have such a supportive district that when I asked permission to add a class garden, our grounds department took it upon themselves to add one. Now we need your help!

We are an at risk school in Nevada, currently we are a Title One school.

Living in Nevada, our students do not get a chance to see much more than desert vegetation grow which can be beautiful, but often plain and dull. We have extremely hard working students who would appreciate a chance to grow their own beautiful garden.

My Project

The basic setup of our garden is being created for us by our district. Now we will need supplies to really get our garden up and running. We are requesting basic gardening supplies such as child sized rakes, hoes, shovels, etc. enough for every class member to work at the same time. In addition we are requesting a wheelbarrow, portable work area wagons, and a couple of books to guide us in creating our garden.

This project is vital because it gives students a chance to do something they would most likely never get to do otherwise.

Many of our students live in apartments with no chance of creating a garden of their own. Our students should not be stripped of the chance to learn about horticultural issues because they don't live in a area with naturally fertile soil.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
