Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The learning process, in and of itself, can motivate some students, but all students respond to incentives and positive reinforcement!

Our students in Kindergarten through 8th grade attend an inner city Title I school.

I am their Literacy Enrichment teacher and see all 450+ of them each week! Many of our students are enthusiastic learners, however, some students require something extra to motivate them to realize their true abilities.

My Project

The ink cartridges will be used to print photographs of students engaged in working together and to also highlight individual efforts. The Ziploc bags will allow students to borrow books to take home as a reward and minimize damage to materials while in transit. Snacks will be given to students who demonstrate positive academic and social behaviors. The organizing shelves will promote accountability for turning in completed assignments.

These donations will improve the classroom environment by reinforcing positive behaviors and creating a culture of respect and responsibility.

The photographs of the students will be displayed in, and outside of, the classroom and will promote a sense of belonging and self-worth.
