Help Create A Multimedia Station In The Classroom

My students need computer speakers and a multifunction printer with ink cartridges to create a multimedia center in my economics classroom.

My Students

Technology is an important part of a youngster's life in the 21st Century. Being technologically literate is an important skill that a young person should know by the time he or she leaves high school and moves on to college and a career.

I currently teach economics to 12th graders and am looking forward to teaching them these personal finance skills that will prepare them for college and life beyond high school.

I teach at a high-needs school, where many of my students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Many of them are English as a Second Language students who also need to learn general literacy skills alongside financial literacy skills. Unfortunately, my school is located in an old building that does not have the capacity to have computers and printers in every classroom. Thanks to Donors Choose, I was able to get a projector and a laptop for my classroom--two steps closer to creating a multimedia center for my students.

My Project

A multifunction printer helps my students in a variety of ways. First, they are able to scan and copy their peers' notes if they were ever absent from class that day. Second, they can use the printer to print their in-class papers and projects in the classroom. This printer will act as a catalyst in enabling my students to complete their projects using computers. Furthermore, the speakers would bring economics to life, for I will be able to show them videos and movies related that would pique their interest in becoming financially literate.

The use of technology and harnessing the power of the Internet is a very useful tool that a student must have in order to prepare for college.

Please provide my students with the opportunity to have a true, hands-on learning experience by granting them these materials.
