Get into the part! I teach 6th grade history in a very rural and low income community. I do not teach by the book and am always looking for ways to bring history to my room. My students love to be able to see examples of what we talk about.

The Civil War is an amazing event that took place, however, I am finding in my fourth year of teaching that the kids need to see their own copy to be able to comprehend what is being said. Unfortunately we do not receive much money to be able to provide excellent resources for our students.

I would love for each student to have a book to look at while we read it together. I have found that as nice as it is reading to the kids with one book, it works one hundred times better when they have a copy too! I read one of these to them earlier this year and they asked if there was any way we could get a class set to use. I have eighty-nine students and they all asked for one class set. Students stay more focused when they each can look and follow along.

I love my students and want the best for them. I do what I can, but I cannot do everything. I know that you can help me make it possible to give them the best.
