My Students

Have you ever gone to the library eager and excited to check out a book and then been disappointed when you realize your book isn't there to check out? My students love to read the Captain Underpants books, but our paper copies are falling apart and no longer readable.

My students are 50 third and fourth graders in a large urban district in Ohio.

They love to read, particularly graphic novels. With so many students between my two sections of reading and language arts, it is difficult to keep enough engaging books on the shelves for them to put in their book boxes.

My Project

These hardcover books will help ensure there is an adequate number of books on my classroom library shelves for my students to read. They love the Captain Underpants books, but our treasured paperback copies have been falling apart. While book tape will put some of the pages back, many pages have been lost and thrown away. The remaining books are often missing pages, which makes it difficult for the students to read and follow the plot!

These hardcover books will help guarantee enough engaging books are on my classroom library shelves for classes to come in the years ahead.

My students are desperate to read good books. Many do not have books in their homes and regularly borrow books from me to do their reading homework and read for pleasure.
