First Year Teacher Needs Spelling Games!

My students need 6 each of 3 educational games to practice spelling skills as well as timers and materials for spelling activities.

My Students

Spelling is one of the most difficult skills to master in the English Language. Many of my students speak a language other than English, which makes mastering spelling even more difficult.

I work in a high poverty school and many of my students speak a language other than English.

Spelling is a particularly difficult skill for them to master. One thing I have found this year is that my students gain a great benefit from spelling games such as Scrabble. I would like to give my students more opportunities to develop their spelling skills in a fun and engaging way.

My Project

I am requesting some engaging spelling games like Boggle and Bananagrams, two timers for group spelling endeavors, a magnetic pocket chart for spelling Jeopardy, and an organization bin in which to keep the spelling games. I believe these resources will be useful in helping my students to develop spelling skills both working in large groups and small groups.

If you have any idea of what it feels like to learn the new spelling patterns of a new language, then you know how important these resources are.

Spelling is an important part of achieving fluency in a new language. Please help my students be successful in their language skills.
