My students need a document camera, a classroom rug, supply caddies, and literacy materials to help integrate our STEM curriculum to other classroom content.
I believe that all students, regardless of their background deserve the same resources and education. These classroom supplies would really help my students have more opportunities. "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world" Nelson Mandela.
I work at a small Title I school where our demographics are about 30% Hispanic, 30% African American, and 30% Caucasian.
Many of them are on free or reduced lunch and aren't provided the opportunities of their peers in near-by schools. We are a STEM school trying to promote Engineering in particular and they are very excited to help create solutions to real-world problems.
My Project
My students need a document camera, a classroom rug and literacy materials to help integrate our STEM curriculum to other classroom content. I envision some of these materials helping get our classroom organized to create a great learning environment. The document camera will help show experiments to the whole classroom since we don't have materials for all students to do every experiment. The white boards will help us test our math skills and work on number fluency. The books will help link great stories to our curriculum and engage the students. The students will learn about change and chemical engineering as well as fluency in their reading to be on grade level, or above!
Funding my project will give students materials they wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to work with.
It will help us create an inviting classroom and classroom community. This project will also help my students not only for success in my classroom but years to come. These supplies will help my students create solutions now to many real-world problems.
