Fiction Unfolds!

My students need some fiction books to add to our classroom library. I want to expose them to the classic fairy tales that children do not seem to hear anymore.

My Students

Do you remember hearing the classic fairy tales when you were growing up? Stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Bears, and The Gingerbread Man? I have many students who have never heard these stories! I want to expose them to these classic tales that all children should know!

I teach second grade at a small rural school in far Southwest Virginia.

My school has a large number of students who are from low socio-economic families. Their families are struggling to provide the basic neccesities, and there is not much left over for buying items for pleasure. My students need some books for the classroom library that they will be able to check out and take home to read and share with siblings.

My Project

Many of my students do not have books in their home, and have not had the pleasure of being read to each night. I believe if I provide the books, that parents will read to their children or my students will read to siblings. I want to provide a large classroom library for them to check out books from.
