My Students

Do you remember hearing fairy tales and nursery rhymes read to you as a child? Many of my students have not had exposure to the genre of Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes yet.

We have 27 very active and busy students in my class from all socioeconomic walks of life.

Our class ranges from your average student to students with special needs. We reside in a rural area of Virginia and attend one of the many elementary schools in Prince William County.

My Project

These flannel board pieces will be used to reinforce stories that will aid each child in their literacy and recall skills. I plan to not only have them available during Literacy Center time but also at our Class Library. I'm a true believer of tapping in to the many different learning styles that children bring to the classroom.

Interactive play and recall is such a vital part of the Literacy process.

Learning of love of reading is a skill that will last these students a lifetime. Giving them an interactive way to engage in the reading process will only solidify those literacy skills that will impact them in their educational career.
