My Students

My students love to learn and to explore the world in which they live, as is evident by their voracious appetite for nonfiction books.

I have the opportunity to see students in grades 1-5 on a weekly basis in the school library. During our time together we learn to be good seekers, finders, and sharers of information. In our library, curiosity is nurtured and embraced.

My Project

Our elementary school will engage in a school-wide learning theme in the upcoming school year: Wild About Learning. Each grade will be assigned a different biome to research and explore. My plan is to guide students through the research and information seeking process using print and digital resources. Our current collection of landform and biome books is dated, incomplete, and limited. Due to difficult budget decisions and more needy subject areas, purchasing new books for this topic became a low priority.

With these books, my students will have the materials needed to explore and learn about different biomes and the lifeforms who inhabit these areas.

It is my hope that these materials will be a starting point for inspiring a deeper curiosity and interest in related topics, allowing my students understanding of the world to grow.
