Environmental Science

My students need sand/water table and science tools to become scientists to improve their vocabulary and fine motor skills.

My Students

In my classroom, we are always working. We are working in centers, working with manipulative's, talking, and using new vocabulary. My students need to move and work. They do really great when they are up, moving and learning.

My students are high-risk, low income students in a small town.

I bring a lot of items into my classroom to teach my children about the world around them. My school is very supportive of pre-k and what I'm doing in my class. My principal also allows us to go to EcoLand three times a year to be able to use and learn about science. My children are able to get excited about learning. I want to continue that excited when we return back to the classroom.

My Project

My students will become scientists in my classroom. With our sand/water table and the Dino tools, my students will get to become scientists going on digs. They will get to find extinct dinosaurs, talking about the different dinosaurs and what they did. They will get to dig for letters and numbers on their different digs, too. They will also get to use eyedroppers to mix different colors in water. This will use their fine motor skills. They will get to mold sand, sift sand and shovel sand into buckets. This will also use fine motor skills. They will be able to talk to me and other students about what they are doing and use new vocabulary throughout this center that will continue into other centers and circle time. This is a center that my students can get excited about.

This will change and improve my classroom by having the students excited about science.

They will talk about science and use new and different words that they have never used before. They will talk to each other about what they are working on. It will change my students lives by getting them excited about science and science experiments in school. It will help them use problem solving skills throughout all subjects and grade levels. My students and I will be excited about science.
