Earthquake Damage Urgent Supplies Needed!

My students need assorted Science lab supplies to replace much of our equipment destroyed in an earthquake.

My Students

Our school is in desperate need of basic supplies any chemistry class should not be without!

We are an 8th grade Physical Science class from Louisa County.

We are a public school in a very rural area with low funding. These students are very eager to learn, but have difficulty staying focused without the means to provide them with stimulating experiments and exciting demonstrations.

My Project

I am asking for lab kits that provide pre-prepared lab experiments for the students. I am also asking for beakers and safety equipment to replace ones that were broken or lost in an earthquake. Lastly, I am asking for a variety of chemicals that will help me to do exciting demonstrations in front of the class. With the materials you provide we can show these students hands on how cool science can be. These chemicals and lab equipment will be used for the students to experience chemical reactions. We are studying endothermic and exothermic reactions and these supplies will help me to show them how we can produce cold packs, or fill up a balloon with the gas produced in a chemical reaction, or turn a solid into a liquid with the touch of a finger.

Our students are struggling this year.

The earthquake in Louisa County wrecked havoc on our schedule, our lives, and our school year, but it also left us with very little supplies. As a science teacher I know the best thing about science is the cool experiments. These experiments are impossible without the necessary materials and our school system does not have the funds to replace all of our broken labware and spilled chemicals.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
