My students need 30 binoculars, resource materials like photo cards and books, and recycling learning centers to help make Earth Day an every day event in their lives.
Help the students in my school learn to make every day Earth Day! I am the Green School Coordinator and Science & Energy Team sponsor at my school. The materials in this request will help students in Pre K-5th grade classes learn more about taking care of the Earth responsibly.
The school I serve is a Title 1 school in a rural, Southern Appalachian region.
Many of the students are from first generation immigrant families. All of the students need opportunities to learn about taking care of the planet. The students need tools to help them learn inside and outside of the classroom.
My Project
The resources I have requested will allow the older students to use binoculars for bird watching and observing other wildlife that lives in and around our school campus. The identification cards will help these older students identify the animals they are seeing. The recycling activity centers and resource library will help younger students and English as a Second Language Learners increase their recycling knowledge and learn ways to care for the Earth.
This project will help an entire school.
The materials will be available to use with future groups of students as well. Investing in this project will impact more than one group of elementary students. We will be able to use these resources for years to come.
