My students need bottled water. There has been a ban on our city water, as well as continual complaints.

Imagine being deprived of drinking water. You are not allowed to drink it, shower with it, and/or cook with it. Then, you come to school thirsty & even unclean. Your rights to clean drinking water have been deprived and your school can not provide you a basic human resource.
My students work hard, despite obstacles.
In fact, their recent assessment for Persuasive Writing provided a platform towards social change. One of my students wrote, "Every other city has fresh water but us! It's just not fair because everything was okay when we were on Detroit's water supply! But, they put us on nasty Flint water." Students shared the countless problems they are facing without clean water. First, they have had the water turned off. Next, people have been sick because it has had too much Chlorine. Finally, their water bills have stayed the same, while they have to purchase bottled water for all of their water needs. Despite these obstacles, my students do not complain. They simply work hard, whether they are thirsty or not.
My students will have access to clean water. Currently, there are continuous bans on our city water. Therefore, we have to cover our water fountains in school and/or remind students not to drink it. When they do drink it, they complain of the taste and/or discoloration. The bottled water will be made available for them to consume. Then, they will be refreshed and ready to learn. All of their basic needs must be provided before they are ready to learn.
My students have witnessed the turmoil in the world lately.
They have seen violence, hate, injustices, as well as diseases. However, they still had their own basic needs met. However, now with the water ban and lack of clean fresh water, they are seeing the inequities of society. Your contribution will allow them healthy drinking water, so their basic needs are met. Then, they can focus on learning. Also, your example will remind them that others care for them.
