Dive Deep into the Titanic

Help me give my students STEM supplies for our in-depth study of the Titanic.

My Project

Students will be introduced to a new level of research as we delve into the depths of the most famous ship: RMS Titanic. Students in the Gifted and Talented program will discover how the ship was built and why it was so fascinating and majestic. They will continue on to its voyage- both the plan and what actually happened on that fateful day. Students will be able to explore buoyancy and density through STEM activities. Passengers in all classes will be researched and even painted. The students will also be able to view recordings of the discovery of the ship and why many people think we should leave it alone. They will also recreate an artifact from the Titanic.

The many activities include STEM (buoyancy, density), creative writing (passenger), watercolor painting (ship), and a LIVING MUSEUM for parents, friends, and community members.

Students will be able to present all of their findings and projects in one night to their families and friends. This provides a great way to involve the community in school events. Students will need the following materials for the many STEM projects:

Buoyancy: aluminum foil (boats)

Freezing: salt & balloons (salt v. fresh water)

Morse Code Invention: flashlights, fabric pieces, noisemakers

Morse Code Bracelets: beads & string

Stop Motion Video: Hue Animation Studio

Dioramas: shipping boxes
