My students need a good digital camera to capture photos from their theatrical performances and to take photos for their digital language arts projects.
My students are storytellers. Whether it be through the words of a play or musical, or through creative digital projects based off of the literature they study, they are always looking for a way to tell a good story. A digital camera will allow them to continue to tell their stories in new ways!
The students at my public high school in California are true renaissance students.
They are encouraged to be artists, athletes and academicians. Our school population is approximately 2,000 students and many of these students spend countless extra-curricular hours involved in various sports and performance groups. My theater and digital language arts students are gifted artists who are passionate about what they do.
My Project
I am requesting a digital camera for my students so that they can continue to build on their storytelling techniques through the use of digital media. My theater students will be able to capture images from our plays and musicals and my digital language arts students will be able to use the camera to create digital arts projects related to the literature we are studying (i.e. a photo scrapbook told from the perspective of the main character of a novel).
The memories that my students will be able to create using this digital camera will last a lifetime.
Not only will they have a tangible reminder of the project, but they will have learned how to effectively use a digital camera in different settings. This camera will give them a new method for exploring their storytelling techniques.
