My Students

My students love cup stacking. We even helped break a Guinness World Record this year along with 27 other countries. The best thing about cup stacking is how easy it is to tie in physical fitness and core subject areas all at the same time.

My students include 1st through 6th graders (approx 646 students).

We share our equipment and gym with another school of 1st through 6th graders (approx. 664 students). There is no age limit in the sport of cup stacking. It amazing how much the kids improve from year to year just using the equipment we currently have on hand. They enjoy the tournaments and relays that we do in class. I am always looking for ways to challenge them and make them faster and faster stackers.

My Project

Having 1300 students within both schools it is important for me to find activities that are challenging yet exciting for students each time they participate. Cup Stacking with Speed Stacks has hooked the students interest. My ultimate goal is for my students to be fit for life. Cup stacking gets kids moving and having fun. An added bonus is how I can tie in math and language arts into relays and games.

I am continually finding resources to provide exciting opportunities for my students.

I love my job and it is my goal to encourage my students to find fitness activities that they can participate in for the rest of their life and be successful. Cup stacking has motivated some kids that normally wouldn't have been excited about coming to Physical Education.
