Critically Ill Students Need An Adaptive Projector

My students need an Elmo Visual Presenter so that they may be able to see multimedia presentations.

My Students

The students that I provide for are critically ill. Many of the students have diseases such as cancer, heart transplants, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and muscular dystrophy.

These students attend a school/ rehabilitation center.

Many of them come from the poorer areas of New York state. Some of these students have some visual impairments due to their injuries. My kids have suffered greatly as well as their families. All of my students require intensive therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

My Project

With the use of this projector my students will be able to see visual presentations, as well as simple material such as written material. Since this projector can enlarge any material, my visually impaired students will now be able to see written print with ease. At this time I will borrow an existing projector so that my students can see multimedia presentations. How can one learn when they cannot see the entire page of a book? Often with some traumatic brain injured students they lose a field of vision. This product will now help them access the curriculum in a more productive manner. The projector will also be shared within the entire school especially in the Science classrooms. Now students will be able to see images under a microscope, which previously would not be accessible to them.

Please help me make a difference in the lives of these critically ill students.

Having the resources to help these students is my goal. I want these students to get better as well as to keep up with their school work despite their physical and health impairments. Currently my school is under financial constraints. I do not have a budget because there is no money. Thus any new materials need must be provided by myself.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
