Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Writing is boring! Do we have to write a story? These are words a teacher does not enjoy. All teachers want their students to be excited about writing. A writing center will allow my scholars the opportunity to share their feelings, thoughts and ideas through writing.
My second graders are fun-loving students eager to express themselves.
Many of my students struggle because of their socioeconomic situation. Half of the students in the school are on free or reduced price lunch. Each scholar comes from a diverse background that often needs encouragement and support. I strive to create a safe and trusting environment in my classroom. Through writing, my students can express their fears, feelings, thoughts and experiences.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will help create a writing center in my classroom. The grammar and writing games, flip book, prompt box and activity cards that I am requesting will help my students practice their writing. These hands-on activities will surely be fun as well as allow them to gain the grammar and writing skills necessary to succeed.
I will be able to work in small groups while other students work independently.
Through the skills the students will practice in this center, they will learn how to express themselves in writing while gaining an appreciation for writing.
