My Students

ACTION, ADVENTURE, DRAMA, CARS PRINCESSES, ALIENS AND MORE! We have so many ideas for our picture books that we want our illustrations to be as great as our words. Our students need the materials to draw big bold detailed pictures.

We are a first grade CTT class in a public school.

We are made up of 20 students who have all different kinds of needs such as ELL, speech, OT, and PT. In our class we love to draw, read and tell stories. This year we are studying Donald Crews to notice how he draws and writes his stories. We then took his craft and started to use it in our picture books. We also went on neighborhood walks, went on field trips to the park and walked around the school to get ideas for our pictures books. We are very excited to continue our study.

My Project

The children in the class will be able to be more creative with the paint and flair pens. The pens would let them draw detailed pictures and have the black outlines just like a published book. Also the children would be able to add color to their picture with paint to make it special. They use crayons to color most of their pictures so this would make there picture books special. The flair pens also make their words stand out and look more "fancy". This really pushes the students to write more and add more to their stories. With these materials the children would be able to create their own picture book from their thoughts and ideas. Also it would build up their confidence, spelling and reading fluency because they would be reading their books to other children in our school.

In first grade, as teachers, we have to keep our students attention, and it is one of the hardest things to do.

We have to teach them how to read, write and spell on their level, just because they are all in first grade does not mean they are at the same level. As teachers we have to come up with fun interesting new ways everyday. These materials would do just that.
