This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you saw a movie that stuck with you and made you want to make a change in your life, something that was so moving that it made you want to change your world?

My students are AP Environmental Science high school seniors at a high performing, small charter school in California.

They learn quickly and constantly challenge themselves to learn more and consistently surpass my high expectations. AP Environmental Science is a field work course that is supplemented by field trips where they can perform investigations and take part in hands-on learning. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, this is not a possibility as we do not have funding for buses or the support staff these trips would require.

My Project

Although there have been budget cuts, adding films to our classroom library will allow students to have some of the experiences they no longer have access to. Students are also able to check these films out and share them with their parents and siblings to expand their knowledge as well.

As the Once-ler said, "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing's going to get better.

It's not." Creating change is something that my students work towards for the entire year. These films will generate ideas that will inspire them to make that change and give them the opportunity to experience field work without having to leave the classroom.
