Bullying in First Grade

My students need "Bullying in Schools", pencils, wireless headphones, and audio books so that they can learn and practice how to deal with bullying on a daily basis.

My Students

When I was a small girl, I remember wanting to listen to stories on tapes. It piqued my interest and was an incentive to make me want to read.

There are 21 students in my class, nine (9) girls and twelve (12) boys.

We are a Title One school. Most of my students are from a low sociol-economic background. Most are from a single parent home. My students will greatly benefit from listening and viewing topics on bullying.

My Project

My class will begin this project by reading and discussing the "Bullying in Schools" book. We will then read and discuss other books on bullying. Once we have talked about how we should treat people, we will practice what we have learned in small groups. The students will use the listening station as a small group to take turns operating the equipment. They will be responsible for their behavior and attitude during group time.

My class is on a low school budget and desperately needs a listening station.

This project on bullying will allow the students to work in small groups on skills that are in the curriculum. It will also allow them to model what they have learned from the discussion on bullying.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
