My Students

Imagine going home every night, and not checking your email, or going on the computer to surf the web. Many of my students do not have the ability to do this because their parents do not own a computer! Help bring the 21st century technology into their lives.

My students are low income, special education students, who live in the projects.

They attend a public school in New York CIty. They are wonderful, capable children who need the resources to succeed. They are inquisitive students who have started writing books, through an inquiry based project. They need a working computer to publish their books.

My Project

My students will be ready for the wave of the future, the 21st century. They will be able to hone their technology skills by use of the computer. As an inquiry- based independent project my students are doing research on a non-fiction topic of their choice. For example, some students are studying volcanoes, cheetahs, the Eastern Blue Bird, as well as Salvador Dali. They have done research by reading books and I have provided them with copied of Internet research. This project would be much more effective if they could do the research themselves. After they have compiled their research they are creating their own books. They are in the process of publishing books and do not have a reliable computer to use. One of them may be the next best-selling author.

This could change my students lives forever.

When they apply for jobs and enter the workplace everything will be technology based. I want a great life for these students! Technology and computer skills are mandatory. Please help!
