My Students

Careers in science, technology, and engineering are growing rapidly in our modern society, and students who are skilled in the sciences are better prepared for the work force and demands of our world economy. Help me empower my students with a strong science background!

The student population at my school is richly diverse.

Our students, with a 92% free-and-reduced lunch rate, come from many different backgrounds and locations around our city. Students must apply to attend our school, and need a track record of good grades and test scores. Our school's mission is to "Empower ALL students to be college and career ready through high standards and academic excellence." We are a college-and-career track school that requires our seniors to concurrently attend classes at a local community college. By choosing to come to our school, our students prove that they are dedicated and willing to persevere in their educations.

My Project

My students need cellular respiration and natural selection kits, grasshoppers and perch, and microlife mix culture. My students' background in science varies significantly, but many of them have wide gaps in their knowledge of living things. I am incredibly excited to do hands-on projects with them to build their foundation of knowledge and skills and get them excited about life science! The projects I have chosen are engaging, fun, rigorous, and broad-spectrum. The concepts that we will study in each project will cover most of our curriculum for the year.

By donating to my classroom, you can help me translate my love of science to my students, who are eager to learn more and work with real lab experiments!

These hands-on projects will do more to prepare my students for a career in the sciences than any textbook, video, or worksheet ever could.
