My Students

Think about the first time you traveled some place far away from home. I would like to provide my 3-6 year olds with a small glimpse of that experience through books, maps, food, and cultural artifacts to open their mind to the world around them.

My students are 3 to 6 year olds who attend a public Montessori magnet school in an urban area in Pennsylvania.

There are 20 students in my class. Our school is very diverse and celebrates our multiculturalism. We use our school-wide continent study to learn about the seven continents of the world. My students are very curious and excited about learning all they can about the world around them! Please help them learn more about the people, places, and cultures of the world by providing them with books and hands-on materials to make other countries and cultures come alive!

My Project

My students love learning about different places and cultures around the world. In the last two years, they have learned about the Amazon rainforest in South America, food and customs in Europe, and animals and biomes in Africa. Our continent study would be greatly enhanced with the books and materials I am requesting. With these additional materials for our continent study, my students would have the opportunity to see, touch, smell, and taste a sampling from cultures around the world. My students would have more books to read and cultural artifacts to study to learn about people, places, and animals on different continents around the world.

Your donations will help other cultures come alive for my students.

Due to funding cuts, there just isn't money in our school budget for "extras" like these. The materials I am requesting will give children the opportunity to become global citizens at an early age and to appreciate the diversity that exists in our school and in the world.
