Hands-on learning brings skills to life! Using an iPad mini, the curriculum can come to life in the students' hands. They can practice skills (both new and old), they can watch videos, and so much more using an iPad. This is a great opportunity for them!
My students are very low income and our school doesn't really have any extra funds for purchasing technology.
As a teacher, I want my students to have every experience possible to help their learning.
They are great kids, but they need a little motivation to help get them excited about learning. They also don't have a lot of home support, so it is important that they are able to get a lot of practice at school. I want them to be excited about the concepts we are covering in class. I know this iPad mini and case I have requested would be helpful in accomplishing these things!
My Project
An iPad mini would be such a great addition to our classroom. There are hundreds of apps that are completely free. These applications can be used to practice old skills or newly learned skills, such as spelling, state practice, math facts, etc.
An iPad mini can also be used to watch science and social studies videos to reinforce concepts taught in class. It can also be used as a camera to document our learning and give my students ideas for writing.
My students can use the iPad mini during station time and also during tutorials. My students are always very excited about technology and are very eager to use it. Being that we don't have a lot, it would also be a great opportunity to teach responsibility and sharing. I know my students would benefit in countless ways by having this iPad mini.
I choose to be a teacher at a Title I school, but my students don't have a choice.
They are from low income families that are just trying to stay afloat.
I want to give them EVERY chance to learn the skills they need and to practice so that they will be ahead in life.
