An Apple a Day Makes A Fantastic Scientist!!

My students need an Apple TV and stylus pen for the iPad to investigate documentaries and to become current event science specialists!

My Students

It is difficult for students to keep up with pencils, let alone scientific current events. With Apple TV we will be able to stay up to date with scientific documentaries that are offered through Internet television.

My students live in a small town in rural Tennessee.

For many, Internet is not found in their homes. For most, Internet television is unheard of. These students attend a school where 76% of the student body is on free and reduced lunch. Apple TV is not high on their priority list! However, in my classroom, the resource of Apple TV will prove invaluable as we begin our trek to becoming up-to-date investigative scientists.

My Project

Weekly, students will have to report on a current event in my science class. Within that report, students will have to tell me the geography of the report and how it impacts our nation or our community. They will keep a current event notebook of all their reports. After completing our current events weekly, we will watch a documentary that we find on Apple TV. Students will add notes and comments to the current event notebook that they find interesting in the documentary. With this ongoing project I hope students come alive with an enthusiasm for science and realize that they can have an impact on science-related events happening around them.

Please help my students become self-motivated investigative scientists that look forward to learning about a world that is right now, unknown to them.

This project will make a difference in their lives years down the road.
