My Students

Have you ever had difficulty learning something while everyone around you understands? That's what some of my students feel during reading instruction - frustration!

My students in third grade love to explore and learn through projects that are hands-on and creative.

Our school is a traditional elementary school in California, but we are not traditional in the way we learn. We love to become part of history through simulations, get our hands messy with science, and get constructive in math. Literature has us interviewing novel characters in a T.V. show and writing letters to authors. Learning takes on a whole new dimension for us - and we love it!

My Project

Third grade is an especially difficult time for some students. The learning gap between the high learners and the struggling learners becomes ever wider. Reading poses a particular challenge for our struggling learners. Everything from here on revolves around being a proficient reader. The LeapFrog Tag Reading system will help our lowest readers bridge the gap to becoming better readers. This system helps them overcome obstacles in reading and make connections between letters and sounds. Through fluency and mastery in word skills students can then take on the challenges of comprehension.

The LeapFrog Tag Reading system will help my students become motivated readers.

They will have technology that is their own to help them become successful learners. Not only will they want to learn new reading skills, they will have fun while they are doing it!
