My Students

Technology is taking over our world and it's beginning to take over our schools! Children become engaged with hands-on learning and technology in the classroom and it gets them excited about old and new learning!

Our school community challenges its educators to change and adapt to the new ways of learning.

Technology has changed the way we do things in our classrooms and the students embrace it. Our students are enthusiastic and excited about learning especially when they are engaged in activities that are hands-on and include technology like the Promethean board or the computers. Our first grade classroom includes students from all backgrounds with various learning needs and styles. My mission, as a teacher, is to build a classroom community of learners by providing a safe, positive, and productive learning experience, where every student feels valued. To help meet the needs of diverse learners and to prepare them to become successful and to develop the skills necessary to become lifelong learners children need to be exposed to new and innovative forms of technology.

My Project

This generation of children are more connected and digitally savvy than any other generation before. Every day I see how advanced these children are in our technological advanced world and it amazes me! Today, our children are surrounded by technology from computers, interactive boards, and ebooks, to iPods, video games, and cellular devices. With the use of iPod touches in our classroom we will be able to expose children to new technology and differentiate instruction, remediate, and extend to meet the needs of all learners in all subject areas. The applications available for iPod touches will enable students to practice and enrich their literacy skills in phonics, word work, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. In addition, they will be able to practice and extend and challenge their math skills. Educational apps are also offered in other content areas including Science and Social Studies. These apps will help support and enrich our curriculum and student learning.

The use of iPod touches will provide our classroom with a new and innovative form of technology to help students develop the skills necessary to become lifelong learners and to promote student learning.

By using iPod touches as an instructional tool we will be able to expose our future to this digital world. Educational apps will encourage and motivate the students to develop new skills, improve students' academic performance, and they will get excited about learning while doing it!
