A Classroom Without a Computer, Is Like a Book Without Words

My students need a new computer in their classroom in order to connect to the 21st Century.

My Students

Can you imagine what your life would be like without technology? This is a reality for many of my students. In our classroom we do not have a computer for students to use. There are many things on the Internet to enhance learning, but my students are unable to access the sites in the classroom.

First, my students are AWESOME!

I teach 78 eleven and twelve year olds who are dedicated to their learning. Many of my students have moved from Mexico and Central America with their families. Unfortunately many of my students live in poverty and some don't know when their next meal may be. Although, many have a very hard living situation they always come to school with the attitude that they want to learn in order to have a better life for themselves. The students that I teach are your typical eleven and twelve year olds. They like to be silly. They like sports. They love texting. They love technology. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of my students are able to afford technology in their homes. The school is a fairly new school, deep in what many would consider the country. The school is dedicated to creating productive citizens in society. Students are always taught that they can be anything they want to be if they put their minds to it!

My Project

My students need a new computer in their classroom in order to connect to the 21st Century. The world is an ever growing place and in order to be successful students need to be exposed to all kinds of technology. Learning skills in the 21st century should include as much technology as possible. Our school has technology, but not enough for our classrooms to have a student computer in the classroom. There are so many different things my students could do if they had access to a computer in our classroom. Many of my students are what you would consider "high flyers". Our school has purchased software to push the high achievers via the Internet. The problem is that we don't have a computer available for the students to complete the program. Not only do I have "high flyers", but I have many students who also struggle. Having an additional student computer in the classroom will offer fun games and other enriching activities for the students who are struggling as well. Having just one computer for students is the start of preparing them for life in the 21st century.

The 21st century is all about technology.

By completing this project you will be helping 78 children who don't have access to a computer in their classroom. Students will be able to use the computer daily to complete online activities and enriching games. This will be another way to help make learning fun for them. It will be used daily to help push students and to offer extra tutorials for struggling students. Please donate and support this project for the students.
