This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

They say "A picture is worth a thousand words", but my students are having a difficult time visualizing music without a magnetic whiteboard in our music room.

My students are dynamic elementary kids from a high poverty, urban Colorado neighborhood.

They are mostly second language learners who need diverse teaching methods to learn simple concepts. They would benefit from a visual learning system to increase their music content knowledge as well as be able to interact with music in a more realistic way.

My Project

The addition of a magnetic whiteboard in my classroom would reduce the paper charts I am currently using and create a re-usable surface for me to notate lessons and objectives on a daily basis. This will increase communication among students and myself as well as provide another mode of learning to reach my English Language Learners. I will also be able to use the board as an interactive surface to project lessons from my computer with my LCD projector.

This project is costly, but important to furthering the goal of our school which is to give all students the chance to go to college.

The whiteboard will allow my students to read, write, and interact with music in more ways that they can imagine. The time-saving features of using the board on a daily basis will increase my effectiveness as a music teacher as well. Please consider donating to this project.
