At schools, apps are constantly being monitored and updated in order to assure students are using it properly. Technology offers a lot of benefits to students including engagement, personalized learning and group collaboration. Also, students have access to resources that sometimes families are not aware that they exist. In my school, we assign at least 20 minutes everyday as computer time, where students have the opportunity to review math or literacy lessons. They also have a block for English as Language Development with different apps. On these apps, they learn the proper pronunciation and grammar in English. In third grade, I frequently ask them to do research on their own and write about it. For teachers, technology brought the advantage of preparing lessons and giving students individualized support faster and efficiently, and having faster and easier communication with parents.\r\nWhat my students are more excited about our new devices is the idea of having the opportunity to bring it at home and use it for a week on special assignments or on specific homework. In class, I will assign it according to individual needs I will observe.\r\n\r\nThank you so much on behalf of all my students, specially three of them that do not have computers at home, so they are so excited about the idea of bringing it and show family what they are capable to do with technology.","fullyFundedDate":1746787300925,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-my-students-technological-pote/9096614/","projectTitle":"Unlocking My Students Technological Potential at School and at Home","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vargas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1585386_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1450394835883","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1585386"},{"teacherId":9647080,"projectId":9105386,"letterContent":"I can't begin to thank you enough for funding our project, Sensory Support for Brighter Learning. Your generosity has truly made a powerful difference in the lives of my students with disabilities. Each item that arrived brought a sense of excitement, joy, and—most importantly—comfort and accessibility to our classroom. The moment the boxes came in, my students lit up with curiosity. We unboxed the materials together, and the room was instantly filled with smiles, laughter, and wonder. It felt like a sensory celebration!\r\n\r\nLet me take you into our classroom and show you how these resources are being used and how impactful they've been:\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest hits has been the Full Body Wrap – Self-Soothing Wearable Blanket. This simple yet effective tool has helped students who often struggle with anxiety or overstimulation. I have one student on the autism spectrum who typically finds it difficult to focus or stay regulated during learning tasks. When introduced to the body wrap, he immediately gravitated toward it. To our surprise and delight, he wore it during a small group session and not only stayed seated for an entire activity but also completed a phonics assignment—something he had refused to do for weeks. That was a moment I'll never forget.\r\n\r\nThe 76-Pack Sensory Fidget Toy Set, especially the squishy toys, became an instant motivator. Even my most reluctant learners began to engage more during lessons when they knew a squishy was waiting for them as a reward. \r\n\r\nThe Lakeshore Phonics Activity Journal, CVC Magnetic Set, and Trace & Write Alphabet Center have been incredible supports for our literacy development. My students with language-based learning disabilities often need multiple ways to access phonics instruction, and these tools provide just that. We've incorporated them into our daily stations, and I've seen noticeable improvement in their letter formation, decoding skills, and overall confidence in reading.\r\n\r\nOur Hydroponics Kit sparked a lot of curiosity. We used it to launch a science unit on plant growth, and the students were fascinated to see roots growing in water. They tracked plant changes in journals, made predictions, and shared daily updates with each other. It gave them ownership and pride in their learning.\r\n\r\nThe Fiddle Leaf Fig Plants are a class favorite. I never expected live plants to create such a strong connection, but students care for them like beloved pets. They named them, check on them daily, and even remind each other to water them. It's teaching responsibility, patience, and respect for living things—beautiful, unexpected life lessons.\r\n\r\nAll of these materials are more than just supplies—they are tools of inclusion, growth, and empowerment. They help create a classroom where my students feel safe, supported, and eager to learn. These resources meet their unique sensory, academic, and emotional needs in ways that would not have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll continue to build on our hydroponics project by comparing soil and water growth, and we're planning a small sensory garden in our classroom. Academically, we'll be diving deeper into phonics using the Lakeshore tools and introducing writing prompts connected to our science observations.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart—and on behalf of every student who now feels more capable and calm in our learning space—thank you.
