My Students

Do you remember the first time you saw a PowerPoint presentation? It captured your attention. My students need to see pictures and visuals of vocabulary and concepts to help build their knowledge. An LCD projector allows me to present lessons for 21st century learners.

My students are a great group who attend school in a very diverse community.

We have learners from many different backgrounds and cultures. They are an enthusiastic group, but they need background knowledge to provide a foundation for the new concepts I'm presenting in 3rd grade. I can't take them on several field trips due to cost limitations, so I can bring the world to them through the Internet. However, to present from the computer requires a bigger display than my monitor provides.

My Project

I recently changed schools and my new classroom lacks an LCD projector. I've discovered how difficult it is to go back to the overhead projector, and also how hard it is to collect and print out pictures of concepts we are learning. With an LCD projector, I simply call up the PowerPoint, visuals, or other online resource, and then present it to the entire class. I get instant engagement, and it saves me after school time and preparation.

My students deserve to learn with 21st century technology.

While there is a time and place for pen and paper, they should be able to take advantage of all that computers and the internet have to offer. To teach with powerful visuals helps not only my English language learners, but all my students. In this day and age of television and video games, my students are used to bright colors and vivid displays, so the LCD projector will help me capture their imaginations.
