We scrounged up some cardboard scraps so that each student could have a try at cutting a shape. The light in their eyes was exactly what I had hoped for as they saw that they would be in control of all stages of the art process. Waiting in line wasn't a chore when they were so eager to watch the person in front of them cut out their design. The very next day a student brought in a huge box that we were able to cut up to begin our first project.\r\n\r\nIt has been amazing to see the creativity of students blossom when they have access to tools that allow them to be independent as they plan and build their art. These Picasso inspired mask are the first of a series of projects that students will be able to express their ideas using cardboard. Our next project will be a landscape design in a picture frame, all out of types of cardboard. Using recycled materials also show students that art can be created out of anything. There are no limits to what their imagination can create. \r\n\r\nWe are looking forward to purchasing more ChompSaws and having students invent, build, and display their projects.","fullyFundedDate":1761950214933,"projectUrl":"project/calling-all-builders-inventors-artists/9698549/","projectTitle":"Calling all Builders, Inventors, Artists and Dreamers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ellis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1643807"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32343","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":844,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":47,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"21.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.7,"schoolId":32343,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carroll Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carroll Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/elk-grove-unified-school-district/carroll-elementary-school/32343"}
