Our elementary school's mission is to ensure academic success for all students, to maximize their potential as life-long learners, and to enable them to become contributing members of society. In our technologically rich environment it is essential for our students to learn ABOUT technology and to learn WITH technology. Podcasting and Vodcasting are new and exciting ways for students to be involved in every aspect of their learning. Our school already uses much of what is needed to create podcasts and vodcasts. The addition of microphones, software and a laptop computer will help our school move forward in our technological education.
Creating podcasts and vodcasts are in direct alignment with National Educational Technology Standards for Students. In communication and collaboration, students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.
Students:
-interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety of digital environments and media.
-communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats.
-contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems?
With your donation you can help our school plan, write, read, edit, and record with new technologies. Podcasts (audio) and Vodcasts (video) are created in:
Math
-to help students correct misconceptions
-to bring more relevancy to complex measuring
-to tell about solving problems
-to aid in steps of multiplication/division
Language Arts
-to build fluency in reading
-to improve writing and speaking skills
Other classes
-to conduct interviews
-to expand their communication of art ideas
-to show how music/ science/and math work together
-to discuss Internet safety and record directions
-to hear and practice a new languages
According to National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers, educators must design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced enhanced instructional strategies to support diverse needs of learners. To continuously provide current high quality instruction we must also continue in our growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.
