Unleash student creativity in the technology lab! Our school's technology lab serves over 860 Kindergarten-5th graders. Our students are motivated to improve their writing skills when lessons include creativity in writing and art. With the donation of the specialized software, Kid Pix 4 for Schools, my students will be able to document what they are learning, and they can take home hard copies so that all families can treasure what their children have learned.
Our computer lab is a great place to learn. Our problem is that our technology lab does not have the highly motivating software that is favored by our younger students. Student projects are enhanced with the addition of drawing, painting, and creating slideshows. We want to continue to be inventive and enhance our projects with the newly updated draw/paint/write program, Kid Pix 4 for Schools.
As the technology teacher, my goals are to integrate technology across the subjects and to help students understand how technology helps them to learn. I have implemented K-5th technology projects integrated with grade level subject area standards (e.g., Language Arts (Reading and Writing), Social Studies, Science, Math, Health/Nutrition, Character Education, and/or the Arts). Kid Pix software is an extraordinary draw/paint/write program that allows students to explore and create while boosting skills and concepts across the curriculum.
With your donation you will help parents see projects such as:
-Kindergarten and 1st grade classes enjoy illustrating stories, poems and songs by using Kid Pix on their computers. Students are motivated to learn more about writing by using the colorful text tools and/or dictating their picture captions to a helper. Students share their work by reading aloud and this boosts their fluency in reading and speaking skills.
-Second graders expand a social studies lesson of famous works of art depicting communities around the world. In class, students learn more about diversity and our community by the comparisons made. With the Kid Pix software program, they illustrate and write about our communities' traditions such as holidays, growing peaches, picking strawberries, and family fun on the lake.
Kid Pix 4 for Schools allows students to save and print their projects and even export them for posting on the school's website. My students are very proud of their computer skills, but unfortunately many parents cannot see the technology progress their children have made. With the addition of Kid Pix Deluxe 4 for Schools, your donation will help parents will see their child's creations and expanding skills!
